| Let me see if I get this right: 1. On Mar 18, you reported extensive deposits of hardened Hawk Blue brake dust in the arm. You torch the arm and use a big breaker bar to attempt to turn the arm. 2. On Mar 20, you managed to take apart the arm using a bigger vice and breaker bar and torch. You then noticed the cross threads. I submit 2 possibilities: 1. Is it not possible that the arm was crossthreaded BECAUSE of your attempts to remove it. The ~2" of thread engagement in the structural part of the buckle should have prevented cross threading. 2. Or more likely, it was the repeated action of the arm hitting the bracket that caused the cross threading. Under normal operation the arm would only see loads along the axis of the buckle, which could not cause cross threading. But if the arm was hitting the brackets, it would not matter if the collar was not there to be crushed, the lateral force can cause the thread to skip. That is why I have always stated that the CORRECT fix should be to control suspension travel through using bump stops or stiffer springs.
